Marcha de las Guardias Walonas,

  Ceremonial

The flag used at the moment by the Company of Grenadiers Montañeses  for its presentations of Ceremonial, Honor guards, is formed by the colors of the official flag of Cantabria (Spain), symbol of the region, formed by two horizontal bands of equal width, superior and red the upper part, white the inferior one, and the shield of the region that is located in its geometric center. This colors represnts the naval flag of matriculation of Santander, assigned by Real Order of July 30  1845 . The historical part of the upper of the shield reproduces the emblem of the conquest of Seville by Cantabrian sailors in 1248, with the tower (representing the Tower of Gold) and the ship breaking the chains that closed the pass by the Guadalquivir river.

  Historical Reenactment- 1806

By Real Order of July 12, 1728 , the Spanish battalions would carry three flags of 2.30 ms of side. One "coronela" white with the shield of the Real Arms and the other two with the Cross of Burgundy or San Andrés (that represents the martyrdom which the apostle was put under). In both would be put in the corners  the arms of the kingdoms and provinces of where they have the name or origin. The flags of the Montañeses respond to the Real Order of Carlos III of 1768, in who it arranged the reduction in the number of flags to 2 by battalion, one coronela and one simple one). Originally they were constructed in the finest tissue  and their measures were of 1.46 xs 1.46 M.s The original flags of the Montañeses were blessed the 9 of November of 1806 in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires. With respect to the flags of the Militias of Buenos Aires created by Santiago de Liniers in September of 1806, only those from the Catalan, Gallegos still exists.  We have made our flags of “evocative” form, having used the standards of the Gallegos. [1] Based on the exposed previously, our flags appears of the following way:

La Sencilla: square with the prescribed measures of 1, 46 cm of side, white bottom. In its obverse and in center the shield of the Cantabrian city of Santander, stamped with the open crown. In reverse the shield of the city of Buenos Aires.
